Come to these workshops and join us on parades in Measham, Shifnal , Liverpool and London Notting Hill*.
We also run in depth technique sessions on Monday nights at the same venue so you can keep up your performance skills on more than one instrument if you choose or keep improving with your favourite.
All sessions are just a fiver.
Instruments are supplied and the Monday sessions are suitable for any level.
We are able to offer trade prices if you wish to purchase your own instrument. Talk to us !
DANCERS !! If you just would like to come down and dance, there is a separate stage area for you, we are very interested to talk with you if you have skills or would like to develop your Samba dancing with a group. Any teacher who is interested in running and teaching a group, please get in touch to discuss the possibilities.

Having ended May with a trip to Stafford and their leg of the Olympic Torch Relay we then ended June by parading at Shifnal Carnival, followed by a mad drive back to another Olympic Torch Relay in Birmingham with Mariana Pinho and CDoB Capoeira which ended in a massive jam with a fantastic global mistura with members of Birmingham Conservatoire and Babatunde.

Then off to watch Nova Guarda’s first gig in Birmingham…did we sleep that night ? Not sure, but we were dreaming Samba, because the next night we played afull-on carnival extravaganza with the Sons and Daughters of Xango at the Cross in Moseley.
A crazy weekend with so many good memories !

On 16th June at Canon Hill Park bandstand a group of Oya irregulars – hastily rebranded as”Bateria Incognita ” performed on behalf of Birmingham Friends of the Earth to highlight the G20 discussions being held in Rio de Janeiro to mitigate the effects of climate change. After the press had got their pictures of us and quotes for their publications, we were able to join with the good folks at ” Celebrating Sanctuary Festival” what a day that was !
